  • Kay Matthews' dedication and leadership with the Downtown Georgetown BIA and later as the Executive Director of the Ontario BIA Association (OBIAA), is legendary.

    Kay is a champion of Main Streets across the province and her policies and partnerships left a lasting impact on downtown Georgetown. She taught me that downtowns are gathering places and the centre of civic life, a hub for festivals and celebrations vital to tourism.

    Her career has been marked by a commitment and passion for the small business community.

  • I am deeply honoured to have the support of Paul Henderson and Flo Bellman.

    I have known Paul and Flo for many years, and I have enormous respect for the strength they have shown in turning unimaginable loss into advocacy for other families.

    Their daughter, Darian Henderson-Bellman, was 25 years old when she was murdered in 2020. Since then, Paul and Flo have worked tirelessly to raise awareness about intimate partner violence, advocate for changes to our justice system, and make sure other families do not experience what theirs has.

    They have also been very clear with me about something that matters deeply to them: they want Darian's name to continue to be spoken. As a daughter, a loved one, and a young woman whose life mattered.

    I have also seen first-hand how much the support of our police services has meant to them. Halton and Peel police have stood with the Henderson family through an incredibly difficult journey, and Paul and Flo have been strong advocates for giving our police the tools and support they need to protect people experiencing IPV.

    Their advocacy has reached far beyond Georgetown. They have brought Darian's story to Parliament in Ottawa, spoken directly with elected officials, and through their testimony on Bill C-225, which passed unanimously and received Royal Assent on June 17, 2025, helped bring changes to better protect victims and families. Their voices have helped keep IPV and the need for meaningful justice reform in the conversation. Together, all our voices can make a difference.

    I am proud to call Paul and Flo my friends, stand with them, to listen to them, and to continue saying Darian's name.

  • I first met Siamak in 2023, when we began bringing together members of different faith communities from across Halton Hills to form the Halton Hills Interfaith Community. I helped organize and facilitate those first meetings, and Siamak quickly became a valued member of the group’s leadership team. He has since taken on the role of committee chair.

    The Halton Hills Interfaith Community brings people of different faiths together to build understanding, strengthen relationships, and create opportunities to learn from one another. It is about recognizing both the traditions that make our communities unique and the values we share.

    Siamak has been an important part of that work. He took the lead on bringing our community together to celebrate World Religion Day, and he took on the responsibility of organizing the event in a way that made space for every faith community and encouraged people to work together.

    I am very grateful that those first meetings in 2023 led to a friendship and an opportunity to work alongside Siamak. I value his leadership, his thoughtful approach and, above all, his commitment to building understanding and relationships across our faith communities.

    Thank you, Siamak, for your friendship and for everything you continue to do to bring people together in Halton Hills.
